As a fitness trainer and meditation teacher, I work on your outside and your inside. Just as you don’t do one bicep curl and expect to immediately have bulging biceps, too many people seem to think that they should “get” meditation in just one sitting. People often tell me they tried meditation and couldn’t get their thoughts to stop so they “just can’t meditate.” Like weightlifting trains your muscles over time and with practice, meditation trains your brain over time and with practice.
When practiced regularly, meditation calms the mind, it creates new neural pathways, it soothes and settles, releases and revives. The stillness and silence of meditation bring peace to every part of your body – inside and out. You have an entire inner world waiting for exploration. Allowing yourself the time and space to consider deep questions – “Who am I?”, “What do I stand for?”, “What’s next for my life?”- deepens your understanding of yourself and is reflected in your interactions with others.
Meditation practices vary widely – from focused, one-pointed mindfulness to expansive Open Awareness. Everyone can find a meditation style that works for them. I weave various styles as I teach.
